All resources on this platform have been released as Open Education Resources (OER).

Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning, teaching and research materials in any format and medium that reside in the public domain or are under copyright that have been released under an open license, that permit no-cost access, re-use, and redistribution by others, and sometimes re-purpose and adaptation.

The copyright for each of the UL resources is held by the Zenex Foundation and one of the partners (Molteno Institute for Language and Literacies, Nelson Mandela Institute, Room to Read, or the South African Institute for Distance Education).

Graded Readers CC BY-NC-ND:

The Graded Readers are released under the above Creative Commons license. This license allows users to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format in un-adapted form only, for non-commercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.

CC BY-NC-ND includes the following elements:

  • BY – Credit must be given to the creator
  • NC – Only non-commercial uses of the work are permitted
  • ND – No derivatives or adaptations of the work are permitted

Storybooks CC BY:

The Storybooks are released under the above Creative Commons license. This license allows users to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use.

CC BY includes the following elements:

  • BY – Credit must be given to the creator, namely Saide (African Storybook)
